    Im having a problem with my duplicator package where it will not fully install in my root directory on my hosted server on GoDaddy

    What I mean buy this is that it looks like it should be a successful install, no errors or anything, but none of my files are there. The structure of the folders are there, but there is no files inside them. For example my wp-content > plugins folder is there with all my plugins folders, but there are no actual files in those folders no css files, or .js or .php or anything. I’m also missing the wp-x.php files that are supposed to be in the root (like wp-login.php, wp-blog-header.php etc)
    The only one that is there is the wp-config.php file, but is empty when I open it.

    The strange thing is, if I try to install it in a subdirectory like domain.com/test/ it installs in that folder 100% fine.

    I thought it might be a permission issue, my root is set @ XXX but i can’t change it to 777.
    Is this the issue?

    I’m pretty confused.

    I’m using WP 4.0, and Duplicator 0.5.8

    Thanks!

  • I’m experiencing exactly the same issue as of today. A couple of days ago I did a fresh deploy and all was working well, now the site has been updated and I want to move it live but the archive that’s created is really small (200kb) and the first archive was over 50mb so that seems a bit off as well.

    The new archive is also missing the hash in the filename, the first archive contained a hash like 20141113_sitename_HASH_archive.zip now it’s 20141113_sitename__archive.zip

    Hey Guys,

    Checkout this section on the FAQs I believe it may help with this issue:
    -> Browse to: https://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq
    -> Find section: “3. Troubleshoot=> Permission & System Issues”

    You may have to try the chown command… If you still have issues then feel free to submit a ticket

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks for the reply.

    Turns out my issue was not a permissions issue. It was a odd timeout issue.

    My package file was a little over 300mb and thats too big I guess. I have a rather large site, 300+pages, 2000+ product images.

    I made a new package that excluded the some of the directories where the bulk of the size was and it brought the package size down to about 150mb.

    I ran the installer and uploaded those directories that I excluded manually, and it was fine.

    It must have been some weird issue that only effected the root directory? Not totally sure but reducing the package size worked for me. Maybe this will help some one else.

    Yeah, large packages can be an issue right now… Thanks for the update!

    I thought I’d check in with a little update as well for anyone else finding this thread who’s experiencing the same issue.

    My solution to the problem was to increase the PHP memory limit, it was 64M which apparently was not enough to completely create the duplicate and create the zip.

    I just want to say thank you as well Cory, this plugin is a true lifesaver – Before I kept messing with complete FTP uploads which resulted in broken uploads after taking hours to complete. A complete move is now done in less then 5 minutes, so I can hardly explain how happy I am with this plugin!

    No Problem @huug… I’m Glad its helping you out.
