How to make a combined home page (static and blog posts)

    I’d like my home page to show the latest blog posts, but I also want to add some other elements to it (static images or shortcodes). Can somebody help me, how can I do this?

    Or the other way: e.g. to make the home page to show a static page and somehow to integrate the latest blog posts in that page (in the post editor).

    That’s dependant on the theme’s page templates. You should search around for a theme that would allow this type of functionality.

    You could install the Shortcodes Ultimate plugin, set up your static content, add the [su_posts] shortcode and style the posts using css.
