Missing Comments

I have viewed a number of queries on this forum regarding e-mail notification of comments posted on a blog. I too have that problem where e-mail notifications just stopped one day, back in early July, actually. The difference here is that the comments stopped too!

I launched my first blog ever, in late June this year. I got an initial batch of comments in the first couple of weeks but the comments stopped coming in. I thought it was just that nobody was reading my blog or that they were not interested enough to comment. However, recently a friend told me she had commented on a post but I didn’t see it. I checked my Akismet stats and see that there have been 41 legitimate comments submitted. I can only see a few of the first ones.

I can live without the convenience of e-mail notifications but I need to be able to see the comments, at least! Is there any way to retrieve these missing comments and assure future comments don’t go missing as well?
