    Having an issue uploading media, getting an error: Unable to create directory uploads/2014/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    Permissions are 755 . Can create the directory and upload by FTP

    Try setting the permissions to 775 or if still does not work, “temporarily” set permissions to 777 (though not recommended for security reasons)?

    Hi Rajesh,

    Thanks for the response. I had tried to set the permissions to 777 to no avail. I contacted the hosting company and they told me that the upload path (under media in the dashboard) had been changed to another part of their server. Not sure how that happened – possibly after upgrading to WP 4.0 but that doesn’t make any sense to me, it’s just the only change that I have made recently to the site that I could think of.

    Anyway, thanks again mate. All fixed now.
