    Dear Wordfence Support Team,

I have received about 17 emails from Wordfence in the last two days which states – “A user with IP address 216.70.90.99 has been locked out from the signing in or using the password recovery form for the following reason: Exceeded the maximum number of login failures which is: 10. The last username they tried to sign in with was: ”
    User IP: 216.70.90.99
    User hostname: https://www.aatours.com”

The username and User Hostname differs in most of the cases but I have seen these coming from about 6-8 different IP addresses.

I am sure these are coming from some hackers/spammers. Please suggest what should my approach be towards these attacks?

    Thanks and Regards
    Anshul

    Hi

I would first lower the amount of attempts they get to try to login. I have mine set at 5 on the sites I manage. I’m pretty sure you are just seeing what everyone with wordpress site sees, a bot attack. Block ip’s as you see them, make sure your passwords are complex, and consider using a plugin to change your login url.

    Dear Tim,

Thanks a lot for your reply and suggestions. I didn’t know that there are plugins available using which I can change the login url. I will also go ahead and reduce the number of login attempts.

    Thanks and Regards
    Anshul
