• I’ve created multiple Dovetail member levels, then deleted some I didn’t need. They no longer show up in the Dovetail settings, but they still show up in the WP User Settings. In other words, when I create a new user and hit the ROLE drop down, I see WP roles, Dovetail active roles, and Dovetail deleted roles. Is there a way to purge the system of those deleted roles?

  • Hey!
Thanks very much for trying out Dovetail; it’s always a pleasure to hear someone else is putting it to good use out there!

You’ve uncovered something that hasn’t actually been captured before; well done! To answer your question: no, there isn’t currently.

When a role gets deleted you’re right, it does exhibit that behaviour. I guess the problem is that when you delete a role in Dovetail, you’ve got to handle the fact that there might be people with that role currently in the database. There’s two ways to handle that:

    1. Once a role is created, you can’t delete it
    2. Deleting roles causes everyone to be demoted to another status (like the default “subscriber” level)

Actually, my feeling is number one’s the best option. What do you think?
