• My very unique username for the admin log-on has been reported as being used in log-on attempts that have been locked out. I would like to change it, but the possibility is grayed-out in my profile options. What to do? I’m concerned about security at this point.

  • Hi!

    You have 2 options:

    1) Go into the wp_users table in your database and change user_login to the name you want. Possibly also user_nicename and display_name as well.

    2) Create a new administrator user. Then with the new administrator, delete the old administrator. You can attribute any posts from the old admin user to the new one.

Is there a reason you can’t just change the password on the existing administrator account?
