Moving WordPress on server to make main website

  • Thanks in advance for in any help.

    I have a webiste – https://www.africanoverlanders.com

    I have built a new website – https://www.africanoverlanders.com/wp/

    Very happy so far but now I need the wordpress version to replace the original html version. So my ISP gave me

    I am up to point 9 but I can’t open the file, I have deleted my original website from under public then moved files wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes and the wp.php files all under the public_html file name.

    But nothing I changed the word press address and site address.

    I must be copying the files to the wrong place or not moving all the files, can anyone assist me please.

    I have copied my original website back now, to keep something up whilst I work through this.

  • How did you move your site back? If you followed the steps correctly you shouldn’t have been able to move them back to your original URL. Are you sure you did steps 2-6?

    Its just a html site, so I copied from my back up to the original place on the server and then its directed straight to the index.html file.

    I cant open my wordpress site due to the change I have made in the settings.
