The buffer refers to comics scheduled to publish at some point in the future. For example, if you had comics for the next six months finished and uploaded to WordPress – but scheduled to publish sometime in the future – you’d have a six month buffer before you’d absolutely have to start working on more comics (or miss your publishing schedule). By default, the buffer alert starts warning you seven days prior to all of those scheduled webcomics being published as a way to remind you that you might want to publish more comics.

Nothing will happen if you don’t publish more comics, so you can safely ignore this (it’s just a reminder). You can also completely disable buffer alerts by going to your collection settings page (e.g. Untitled Webcomic > Settings) in the admin dashboard and unchecking the Start sending e-mail reminders to [email] [x] days before the buffer runs out. Buffer alerts are set per-collection, so if you’re running more than one comic you may need to disable them for each collection.
