Subdomain and Upload Folder?

    I′ve read a lot of guides on how to change the content of the upload folder to a subdomain but still habe a qustion:

    Lets say i have a WP 4.0 blog at https://example.com and i′ve got a subdomain https://content.example.com.

    The guides always say i have to move my content and change the URL and the physical location within the database. Isnt it possible to point the subdomain directly to the upload folder without moving the content within my webspace?

    So i just have to change the URL in the WordPress Database and dont have to do a 301 redirection because the content is still available through the main domain?
