news in two columns

hello,

i searched here but found only two threads without a solution !

i need to display my news in two columns… the standard display in WP is:

news 1
news 2
news 3

and i need:

news1 | news2
news3 | news4

and so on…

is it possible to modify the loop to display my
news like that ?
