• Hi, I’m in the process of creating a wordpress site for a charity organisation that I volunteer with. The charity is relatively small scale in terms of ‘financial members’ and payment is normally taken face to face (cash) or directly into the bank account from the details on the membership form.

I want to create a member area of the site where, when a person has become a member, site admin can go in and create a login for them to access a member area which would have member only content. We are also looking at the possibility of taking online payment for memberships down the track. So this would be where people can sign up on the website and pay then the Treasurer is emailed with a notification of new membership.

I also don’t want it to be access to the back end of the site just selected ‘member’ pages. Can anyone recommend a member plugin that would do this?

there are several membership plugins you could use to protect specific content areas.

one plugin that i have used is PAID MEMBERSHIPS PRO. I use it to manage members for free(trial) membership access and paid member access.

a comparison of various member plugins available to get you started
