Jetpack Publicize not displaying Featured Image since WP4.0 upgrade

Same problem here. We have a page https://www.rr-sport.eu. Since the upgrade its using header image instead of the featured image.

@vilemc I tried sharing your latest post on Facebook, and it seems to grab the Featured Image correctly:

We have a facebook page and all the posts that have been automatically published via Jetpack publicize are with the same image from the header of the page. The link to the facebook page is here:

If you scroll down you’ll see the latest post ‘Prancer’s Pumpkin Bread Is Back’ with an image (Featured image is set to the same image).

If you go to my Facebook page ‘Herbal Star Candles’ you’ll see where it picked up the header image. Before WP4.0 upgrade it was correctly picking up Featured Image (or sometimes inserted image if I forgot FI).

@vilemc I’m not sure what’s happening here. Your site’s Open Graph meta tags are correct, but Facebook seems to ignore these tags when it first crawls your posts to build the Publicized post’s preview.

Could you walk me through the steps you follow to publish a post, so I can try to reproduce?

@herbalstarcandles The image used in your Open Graph Meta tags appears to be different from the image inserted into your post:

The image you inserted into your post won’t be used by Facebook because it’s too small. Facebook will ignore all images that are smaller than 200x200px.

Could you give it another try with a larger image, and let me know how it goes?

‘Love Peace Joy’ post publicized to Facebook, Jetpack didn’t pick up either post image or Featured image. Both are same image, 390×300 px, 196kB.

The other images I used were at least 300x300px as well, although I did shrink the size of the internal post image via WordPress picture edit in the last one.

@herbalstarcandles Jetpack itself doesn’t have control over the images used on Facebook, since you use the WordPress SEO plugin to manage Open Graph Meta tags on your site. The problem consequently comes from something else.

WP SEO’s tags are correct, though: it uses your post’s Featured Image, and Facebook sees it:

Unfortunately for some reason it ignored the tags when it built the post preview when you post was pushed to Facebook. I’m afraid there isn’t much Jetpack, WP SEO, or you can do about it. If that keeps happening, I’d recommend contacting Facebook about it here:

I have the same issue with https://deinespd.de – Jetpack runs great, but Publicize grabs the first image AFTER the featured image. Otherwise it’s the featured one if it’s the only one.
