After editing image in gallery, like cropping, the file name changes

Hello,

The image gallery on this site includes images that were of different heights, so I went into the image gallery to crop them to the same size. When I looked to see if the changes took on the site, the images did not change to the cropped version. After some investigation, I realized that the cropped version of the images, had something like this on the end of the name: -e1411506083703.jpg

This does not show up in the admin panel. According to the admin panel, the file name is the same, but when I click on the link to view the image, it shows the extension at the end and that must be why the images do not appear changed on the website.

I understand that the original image is non destructive in WordPress and I wonder if that’s why I’m experiencing this and how to fix it. I wonder if I’ll have to try and download the images and crop them on my computer and re-upload to get this to work…
