• I’m another one of those that switched from MT to WP in the recent ruckus. It wasn’t because of the licensing fiasco, but because it wasn’t such a big update over the previous version, and I got tired of waiting for 2 minutes for a mere 200 posts to rebuild. I’ve always enjoyed the dynamic nature of PHP more.
I’ve converted my site, Good Blimey!, to use the new 1.2 beta version, and am loving it. I was amazed at how easy it was to import the existing entries and get everything back to where I like it. I’ve also redesigned my blog, and while some people won’t like the color scheme I chose, it fits with the theme I created.
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.

Once I get some funds in Paypal, I’ll definitely be donating as I did for MT once. I’m all for supporting open source projects, especially ones as great as WP.

Welcome to WordPress. The BEST blogging software OUT THERE ??

I like your color comibination…it really works well for your site.

Thanks MtDew, glad you like it. Some people can’t seem to understand why I use those kind of colors, so I just tell them I’m in touch with my lesbian side. ??

Your family is from the Isle of Lesbo? (always thought it would be great if Paul wrote to parishioners there, then we would have “Paul’s Letter to the Lesbians”) Enjoyed perusing your site and was listening to Rosie Flores (rockabilly torchbearer since the 80’s) when I came across the rockabilly post. Sweet.

That looks like a very cool and original design. Welcome to WP.

One of the BEST actually. If we can just maintain this active community and give energy to the developers. My friends are now shifting to WordPress from MT *I was the one who lured them to MT anyway* And I have more than 10 friends, not included the blog friends.

Thanks for the kind words all, it means a lot to me. ??
I agree, the more we support WordPress, the better the blogging community can be. I’m ecstatic about switching to WP, I just wish I had done so sooner.

Ditto here. I have been looking at PHP CMS’s off and on for a while now, and i guess the hoopla with MT3.0 helped me make a solid decision to switch to something PHP based. The rebuild issue is a big deal to me. Plus I hated the fact that if I deleted an entry from MT, the script would not delete the static archive page as well. You had to delete the page and do yet another rebuild. It was a slow clunky way to do things IMO.
The other CMS I was looking at was Textism, and while I still like that one, there seemed to be more participation with the WP community, especially when it came to hacks & plugins. Granted I only tested Textism out for a couple of days, so I guess I’ll find out if I’ve made a hasty decision. But so far I’m quite happy with WP.
Especially the wp-gallery hack! I LOVE that thing. I can’t wait until someone integrates it better than I did in 1.2. It’s brilliant.

I also thought about trying Textpattern, but like you, I went with WP because it had more support, and theoretically should be stabler.

Mwhahahaa, our plan on WP world domination is teh win!1111
just HAD to shout it out ??
