• Hi,

I activated the Akismet plugin (version 1.15) on my WordPress 2.0.4 installation. After I keyed in my API key from WordPress.com I proceeded to delete all my comments spam. I had more than a 1000 comments I marked as spam over time.

I clicked “Delete All” and they were successfully deleted. Following that, I couldn’t access the admin page, nor is it possible to view the comments on any post on my blog (https://gnobal.net). If you try any post on the website (e.g. https://gnobal.net/?p=518) you can see that the article loads well but the comments won’t load.

Additionally, I cannot access the database from the phpMyAdmin panel my host provides me. When I click the database name it just stays in “loading” state forever.

I tried recreating the problem on the backup copy of the blog I have at home, but everything seems fine. It may be a problem with my host, but I have to wait until tomorrow to find out. I’m wondering if this is something anyone here is familiar with.

    Thanks.

  • I’m wondering if deleting 1000 comments at once was simply too much for the server — something along the lines of requiring too many connections or too much “juice” — and so your database got corrupted. (I don’t know that this is true; just wondering.)

I hope you have a backup of your database.

Thanks for the help. It seems like my host had a problem with the MySQL database and now everything is OK again.
