Posts will not publish

  • After using the site daily for months, suddenly my drafts will not publish. Furthermore the site will no longer save any new drafts i write. i have done nothing differently and can find no explanation for this.
    I have also tried to back up my site but plugins will not activate, to allow me to update to version 4.0

    try a few basic troubleshooting steps:
    – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.
    – deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the unedited default Twenty Fourteen Theme for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue.
    – If that does not resolve the issue, try resetting the plugins foldervia FTP or SFTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems (because the hooks remain unless plugins completely removed or some plugins stick around in cached files. So by renaming the folder, you break them and force them inactive).

    Hi, Thanks so much for getting back to me, i should mention i am not at all technical minded. With regards to plugins i installed a plugin to back up my site but it will not activate so am a bit concerned that if i deactivate plugins they may not activate again.
    I also have not been able to backup site at all so wary of changes. Where do i find resetting plugins folder FTP??
    Sorry i’m a complete novice.
