smiley face on post

    I noticed that there is a smiley face on this post https://www.susiej.com/?p=120 in the place of the number 8. I didn’t put that there — and I looked at the code, and I’m not seeing the symbol for the smiley face. What could cause that to happen?

    You used 8) – WP is set to put in gif’s for known “smiley” configurations. So, you typed in 8) as a list item (instead of using “ol” and “li” to number you list, you did it yourself), and 8) is one way to make a smiley. That’s why it replaced it with a gif.

    Thank you! I don’t know the code for smiley faces. So glad to know I did it, and I didn’t have some weird virus going around making faces all over my posts!

    You can disable the smiley/gif thing in your preferences somewhere. I can’t remember exactly where.

    Alternatively, you can just use lists for list items – that’s what they’re for ??

    Hi Susie,

    You can disable the smiley by going to:

    Options > Writing > Formatting: > Convert emoticons like ?? and ?? to graphics on display (Untick this box)
