Shortcode only Category id is working

Functionality is limited to category id, none of the other shortcodes are working – date, excerpt etc.?
I am using two instances of Catlist, for two category listings on the home page. They are otherwise identical, e.g.
[catlist name=get-real-news numberposts=15 date=yes excerpt=yes excerpt_size=30 posts_morelink="Read more ..."]Grateful for your ideas.
