• Hi there,

I am having some trouble with my current configuration of the plugin. When I try to enable auto minify in the General Settings, I can an alert saying “Plugin could not solve the Minify auto issue automatically”. Then when I refresh and view the site, the styles break. In the source it is trying to pull up a minified version of the stylesheet that I guess is not there, thus breaking the styles. Since the site is live, I had to quickly switch it off.

I was hoping that this was a common problem with an easy fix so that I would not have to troubleshoot in a testing environment. Either way, would appreciate some guidance here. Thanks.

  • I have similar issue using this plugin.

    Sorry for the trouble!

First, try disabling the “Disable minify automatic file name length test” checkbox under the Advanced section of the Minify settings page.

Next, please understand that minify will not work on all sites. This isn’t a W3 Total Cache issue per se, but rather a limitation in the technologies required to implement minify.

We’ve updated the minify libraries for the next release, but the last two sentences will still hold true.

We’re happy to help if you require assistance, just drop us a note.

when i disabling the “Disable minify automatic file name length test” checkbox under the Advanced section of the Minify settings page, i get:
“Minify Auto does not work properly. Try using Minify Manual instead or try another Minify cache method. You can also try a lower filename length value manually on settings page by checking “Disable the Minify Auto automatic filename test””

Ok, are you clear on what this is telling you?
