Points Wrongfully Deducted

    Hi Gabriel,

    We are experiencing an issue that I haven’t seen anyone else report regarding points being removed from users based on deleted topics and replies, but the topics and replies were not actually deleted. It’s also happening on a very scheduled basis – chunks of incorrect deletions at :58 after the hour. The deletions go back to Sept 2013, when I believe is when we switched from CubePoints to MyCred.

    Currently we’re running MyCred 1.5.2 and WP 3.9.2 (I know there’s updates needed, but wanted to you to know we’re not drastically out of date).

    Do you know of any routine processes that may be running that could be causing this? Or have you heard of this with other sites using the bbPress integration?

    Hi Heather.

    Do you have any custom code in your functions.php file that were added to adjust how myCRED works?

    I would recommend that you install Debug Bar along with Bebug Bar Cron to check what scheduled cron jobs that are running on your website. There should be a scheduled task that runs once an hour.

    There is no built-in cron job in myCRED that deducts points for forum deletions so I am curious as to what this could be.

    Other things I would check:

    – Is it always the same user who loses points?
    – Is it always the same reason the points are deducted? (forum topic deletions etc)

    Hi Gabriel,

    Thanks so much. We do have some things we are doing with the data from myCred (pulling from the table), so that is a possibility.

    I will definitely install the Debug Bar Cron – I didn’t even know that existed so have been hunting for crons manually.

    Just some more info (and I’ll try to keep you updated in the event this may help anyone else):
    – It happens to various users – no pattern noticed.
    – It always happens due to deleted replies or deleted topics (though they’re not actually deleted – just the points are deducted for that reason in the myCred table).
    – Mentioned before, but it always happens at :58 after the hour, various hours, sporadic dates.

    I’ll let you know what I find.
