NextGen installing but no admin link

  • Hi,
    I’ve installed NextGen gallery on a site (3.7) and although it installs and activates there’s no Gallery link on the Menu or an icon in the Editor. But there is a link in the Media Manager leading to choose which gallery, after having clicked on Add Media.
    Any suggestions why this isn’t installing correctly?

    @richyrich – The first thing I would recommend would be to update to the latest version of WordPress (not that is is necessary for NextGEN Gallery just good practice). Afterward I would recommend checking for any plugin conflicts (although you may want to start with ensuring all plugins are up-to-date as well and rechecking as is first).

    Sorry I should’ve given more details. It didn’t work either with WP4.0 so I tried on version 3.71. All plugins are disabled.

    @richyrich – The WordPress version would have no bearing on the installation … you may need to re-install manually via FTP over-writing all files under /plugins/nextgen-gallery/ when all other plugins are deactivated (which is extreme but I cannot think of anything else given the information we have at present).

    Yep, had done all that and have redone it. All plugins deactivated. Deleted NextGen by FTP, new download, new upload by FTP.
    NexGen show up in Plugins folder, activated, but no Menu Links. Very strange…..
