I know. I’ll update the plugin soon so it works. It’s a completely rewritten version though, and some features are not implemented yet.

    Fantastic!

Hey Janneke, love this plugin but desperately need it for WP 4.0. Do you have an eta on an update?
    Thanks

Hi! I released 1.0.0-beta a coupe of days ago… Are you not getting update notifications?

Not here ?? I’ll try to update everything tonight, thanks for the update Janneke!

Not in the dashboard, no. I’ll update manually. Cheers!

OK, the good news is I’ve updated to the new version.
The bad news is it’s pretty unusable.
Firstly, all the css classes have changed. Bit of a pain but the worst thing is the overall functionality.
Where has the cool top bar gone? The pop up ‘Publish’ option has far less options and is not very user-friendly.
The edit slug option if left unedited results in 404 Page not found posts.
Sorry, this is a backwards step I’m afraid.

I hope you understand that this plugin is still experimental and in development. There is no stable release yet.

The toolbar has gone inline. You can format content by selecting some text. Same for images etc. The content of the toolbar will depend on the context.

I can’t activate the plugin, there’s a syntax error I can’t detect :/ even by looking that line and that kind of error. Everything seems fine to me ??

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/javipas/domains/xxxxxxx.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-front-end-editor/class-fee.php on line 111

    Hi Janneke,

I do understand. I guess my feedback would be that this release is a step backward in that it’s less user friendly.

The slug amending is simply not intuitive enough – it should auto populate.

The hide/reveal publish tool bar is erratic.

The inline styling has less options and is also erratic.

    Thanks

In the future, the slug will automatically update based on the title when it hasn’t been manually modified before.

Could you explain what you mean with erratic?

What other options do you need? It can be extended and a lot of “options” are moved elsewhere.

Janneke, could you give some hint about the error message that WP showed when trying to activate the plugin? I still haven’t updated to WP 4.0 because of this ??

    Hi Janneke

I do much prefer the inline approach, it’s definitely the way forward but there’s an important feature missing from this release that was always there before.

Suppose I want to link some content, I can no longer do it from the media browser so if I want to hyperlink a sentence to a PDF, I have to open the admin editor again to find out what the absolute URL is then paste that into the link panel.

Also, before I was able to insert content anywhere on the page, whereas now there’s no ‘Insert Media’ button I can’t do that without going back to the editor.

    Kev

I still receive the WordPress Front-end Editor currently only works between versions 3.9 and 4.0-alpha (which I really appreciate)
but there is no update notice , shall I update it manually?

I get a Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘ on line 111 class-fee.php is the file in question

and it will not activate, I am using WordPress 4.0 thanks
