How to put layer slider on my template header without see other content under

I would like to insert layer slider in header container like background so logo and social icon must go in front of the slide.

I try tu put shortcode in <header> section using:
<?php echo do_shortcode( ‘[layerslider id=”4″]’ ); ?>
but all content inside header go under the slider.

Even if i use css in header
position:relative;
margin-top:-500px;

layout in responsive mode isn’t good

Can you help me please?
