Custom display of posts – is this possible?

I know there is a plugin (well probably more than one) for wordpress that will display a list of all post titles in a category/archive (as opposed to showing the entire post) However I was wondering if it would be possible to create a customised lists of all articles.

Would something like this be possible? Each post will have a small thumbnail that woudl be changed for each individual post and the text next to it will be a brief outline of what the post is about.

Any thoughts on this would be welcomed!
