[Plugin: Replytocom Controller] this plugin still works.
-
I came across this “?replytocom=” feature when I was scanning my site pageview logs. Some indexer apparently had a page in its index with the ?replytocom link. Strangely enough that was even a very old link since that post has a changed date for several months already and as such ends up at a different url.
But it made me wonder if this feature was any good, and I concluded that it isn’t.
This plugin is really simple, does exactly what it needs to do and nothing more. Most of the code is for creating the Admin page entry. Without that it would even shrink down to 30%. So, just as a way of recommending:
- this plugin adds a filter to make sure no new links with ?replytocom are generated.
- this plugin causes a redirect on any old such links that are being requested
- it only uses the “comment_reply_link” filter and “wp_redirect()” function, so unless something drastic changes about the admin interface API, it will always keep working.
