404 error when adding a new page

I’m setting up a new website at frenchquest.ca

I purchased a theme template that came with a lot of dummy content. Today I went through and deleted about 300 pages that I don’t need now that I have the hang of using the theme; however, now that I’m trying to add a page from scratch – I get a 404 error every time. Editing existing pages also gets the same error. I really can’t narrow down exactly what I was doing when the problem started cropping up… but things were certainly working earlier this weekend.

I have tried reinstalling wordpress, updating permalinks, looked at .htaccess and it seems to be as it should, deactivated all plugins and still had the problem, switched back to the 2014 theme.. was able to open the page editor but not publish anything… when I hit the publish button, the page would reload but not completely and the page would never actually save. With 2014 activated, none of the admin panel links would work.. every setting I clicked on would load the add new post page. So, it does not seem to be theme specific. I have since reactivated my theme (The7).

Any other ideas?
