• I installed this about 2 weeks ago and have been waiting for it to take affect.

Does this work for anyone else? how can i measure its effectiveness? is this even worth having?

maybe this only works if you pay money?

Its supposed to work with other bruteprotect installs on different wordpress servers but i dont think that it is truely working that way because i have seen absolutely no difference.

Maybe because this service is new it probably wont work for a long time until the developers build up users.

Either way, im still getting heaps of brute force attacks so this isnt working for me.

  • Is it showing you a total numbers of attacks prevented?

ah yes it is, it says 30 attacks prevented, maybe i expected this to block them all together, im using an activity log plugin and it is still reporting many login attempts. Perhaps these login attempts are being blocked and recorded in the activity log.

I presummed that some how a visitor flagged by bruteprotect would just simply be blocked from visiting my site.

I should go read all the documentation on bruteprotect before crying about it lol thanks for ur repsonse.

any other helpful hints to quick start my learning on bruteprotect would be appreciated

Are you getting more failed login attempts reported by your activity log than those reported blocked by BruteProtect, and are they all from the same IP?

BruteProtect uses some fancy logic to identify brute-force attacks, but it won’t block all failed login attempts, especially if it’s just one attempt by one IP hours apart.

Hi Julian, @macmanx is correct, we do have fancy logic ??

Also we have an algorithm that we are always improving to continue to prevent botnets and others from brute forcing your login.

I for example have my personal blog protected by BruteProtect and it’s had over 11,000 blocked attempts since last year. Every single site is different, but we do know that our service is extremely effective in blocking attacks.

We do have some complications arising from users activating other plugins that perform similar tasks. Sam the creator of BruteProtect wrote about it here: https://bruteprotect.com/bruteprotect-and-other-plugins/

Let me know if this solves, or doesn’t solve your issues, and feel free to connect with me personally at jesse [at] getparka.com
