• Hi,

Nice counter, and I’d like to upgrade, but first need to get the basic version working (using as a widget).

The Countdown stops counting time when I click away from the page with the counter and later return: https://www.wyofootball.com. This occurs in Chrome, Safari and Firefox. Problem remains if deactivate all other plugins.

I’ve left off my caching plugin for the time being, but am running CloudFlare. (Left CloudFlare on as my search of this support forum suggests it isn’t an issue.)

Am hoping you could tell me if this is jquery related. I’ve tried to research and understand the subject of jquery/javascript conflicts, but am coming to the conclusion the subject is a little too deep for me.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks…

    drizzle,

Can you provide a bit more detail:

The Countdown stops counting time when I click away from the page with the counter and later return

We assume you mean when you switch to another tab, or otherwise leave the countdown to do it’s thing in an inactive window, and not navigate away from the page. How long are you leaving the countdown before it stops… down-counting?

We have checked your page and left the countdown running in another window as we write this and it seems to be working fine. How exactly do we recreate the problem? In the past there was an issue with the way chrome handled looping js timers in inactive windows, but if anything, the counter should start back up and adjust the time LIKE A BOSS:

Fret not, we’ll get you squared away.

Hi. Thanks for getting back to me.

If I’m on the page with the countdown and note the time remaining, then navigate to another page on the website and remain there for 4-5 minutes, then navigate back to the page with the countdown, the time remaining is about the same as when I left it before navigating away. I must refresh the page to get the countdown time remaining back where it should be. This occurs in Chrome, Safari and Firefox (on a Mac).

    Thanks again.

    ok, we’ll check again for 4-5 minutes…

We have tested it at 5, 10 and 20 minutes, on 3 different browsers on 4 computers and we can not duplicate the issue on this end. Please you verify that this behaviour is occurring on multiple computers.

Same problem on 2 iMacs and 1 Macbook Pro on all three browsers mentioned. Countdown is counting when return to the page, but page must be refreshed to get to correct time. (Don’t have to wait 4-5 minutes for the sync issue – can leave the page for 20-30 seconds, return and it’s off.)

The countdown seems to work fine on my iPad, both in Safari and Chrome.

ah, ok… so it’s not that the counter “stops counting time” it’s just that the time is off.
The countdown should auto correct when you return to the tab. We’ll look into that, but just to verify the countdown continues to countdown when you return to an inactive tab.

Sorry for the confusion on my part. Yes, when I return to the countdown page, the counter continues to countdown, but the countdown time is incorrect and requires a refresh to sync.

alright, alright! we’ll take a good look-see and push out an update when we solve this issue. thanks for the feedback!
