One thing I learned when version 4.4.1 came out and crashed my site is that removing the plugin dramatically improved page load performance.

Pages load much faster without it.

I want to reactivate the plugin, once I am certain it won’t crash my site again. But I have to ask first: how can I improve the plugin performance?

Are you using the latest version 4.4.4?

I just ran a speed test on my own site using the shortcode and the results are fine.

No I am not using 4.4.4. Nor 4.4.5. Both of them still seem to have PHP backwards compatibility issues – or so I assume, the widget will not render and in fact prevents every other widget that is lower down on the same panel from rendering as well.

On the plus side, since 4.4.2 it no longer crashes my whole site. So there’s that.

I may have been wrong about the Aggregator slowing page loads – I found an issue with a different widget. But not being able to use the widget at all makes the whole thing a moot point.

Oh my site: https://www.gamergeoff.com. The widget would be on all pages and posts in the “DDO” category (www.DDOGamer.com) except I had to disable it.
