• Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/08. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I am trying to add an image to a post and I get the above error message.

I have downloaded wordpress and put the folder in my website directory. I am adding a blog page to an existing site. Everything looks fine except the images problem. I have not created a child theme folder. This is my first time with wordpress so not familiar with its workings.

Also in wp-content folder there is no uploads folder
    Can anyone help please.

Try changing the permissions of the /wp-content/ directory to 767. If that doesn’t work, try 777.

    Hi Guys,
I am having the same issue but when I go to Settings->Media, there is no where to change anything.
I am trying to install a plug-in and having this issue.
    Please help!
    thanks

By chance is your site hosted on a Windows server rather than a Linux-based server? That would cause the issue. WordPress sites need to be hosted on Linux servers.
