• I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure this out, and I’m sure I’m overthinking it, but I cant figure out how to make a static page and add a few recent posts to it.

I am having problems with SEO how my blog is made at the minute, as there is no ‘homepage’ that comes up in Google, only my /tags/ and /archives/ pages come up, so I was thinking of creating a static page via Dashboard, and mimicking the Twenty Fourteen theme with a carousel of recent posts, and a seperate page called Blog which would show all of the recent posts the usual way.

I want to create this homepage, for 2 reasons. Firstly I want to add a carousel and secondly as I cant figure out how to make the current homepage more SEO friendly.

I have had a look into page templates, as I could simply copy the code that does the work of displaying the recent posts, but I cant find what file it is in.

    Thanks for any advice

  • You can use this plugin to help you find out which template is being used.

It will depend on which theme you are using as to how to make it more SEO friendly or to change the home page.
