I’m using the s2member plugin along with BuddyPress. I’m using BuddyPress essentially like a membership directory and I’d like to be able to hide the expanded member profiles, but not the directory I have set up using the members-loop. I also need members to be able to access/change their own profile without paying. I tried using the URI setting of /members/ but this blocks access to the members directory as well as the user’s own profile. Is there a way to set up s2member to allow the users to see the directory and change their own profile, but not allow access to other member’s profile pages?

  • I don’t use BuddyPress, but I wonder if you could do it using the s2Member Pro widget (which requires the Pro version) to get the ability for the user to edit his/her own profile, and the [s2Member-List /] shortcode (also only in the Pro version) to provide the directory.

An alternative way to provide the directory would involve using the WP Users plugin, which can access the user data generated by s2Member.

By the way, just in case you can’t find it, WP Users also goes by the name AMR Users.

Thanks for your response KTS915. I don’t think either of those options will work for what I’m needing – mainly because I already have users have registered and I’m working with a developer to develop a program based on the fields I already have in place.

To expand a bit on my first post, I have the xprofile fields set to be visible only to members, but I need to be able to split those members up into paid and unpaid members. Paid members will be able to view all the xprofile fields, while unpaid members will not be able to see them (except for their own to edit their profile)

Is there a way to split up the membership type within the xprofile fields using s2member?

Everything the shortoce can do is detailed here.

But I think AMR Users is your best bet. So long as your developer is storing user data in regular WordPress database tables, that plugin (and its developer) will be able to get you what you want.
