• I accidentally posted a thread on the wordpress.com forum and since then have mostly resolved my issue. Basically what had happened is I had optimized my site and it was getting really good benchmarks on speed tests but then about a week ago things began to slow to a crawl.

I identified my issue. Under Jepack sharing settings I had the “Show Buttons on” Front, page, archives, and search results checked. On my homepage there are around 15 or so articles showing which means it had to load the Facebook, twitter, Reddit, etc..icons for all those 15 articles. I simply unchecked that and just show the icons on the posts and pages and now my site is fast again.

Even now it is not quite as fast as I would like. It is at least a functional website again and people do not need to wait 5 to 10 seconds for the homepage to load.

I would still appreciate the expert opinion of someone that can analyze my site for possible speed improvements as well as an analysis of my plug-ins for potential issues and any recommendations for ones I should deactivate or possibly others not installed that would be beneficial.

I have a feeling some of my plug-ins are conflicting with each other. Also not sure how to correct some of the errors on my gtmetrix and pingdom.com results. I would be grateful if some of you experts could just take a look at my site and give advice about any improvements I need to make that might make it faster. I will also post all my plug-ins in the next post.

I am a novice but good at following instructions. I have no idea how to correct those trouble areas where I scored an F on Gtmetrix Pagespeed tabs, and Yslow and on the performance tab for pingdom. Any advice and recommendations to speed up my site and maybe avoid conflicts appreciated. Also if you see a good plug-in I do not have installed yet also love those kind of tips as well.

Thanks in advance for any help.

It’s seems pretty good to me… you have a lot of plugins though.

If you could live without any, or find a way to customize it into your theme that would be faster.

I know for sure that JetPack is pretty heavy, for example.

Bottom line though is your site is pretty fast, so you don’t have to do anything ??

Thanks Janet. I disabled around half of Jetpack and only have the ones running I really need. I agree, I think I have too many plug-ins and will work on reducing them to just the essential ones. Do you see any on my list known not to play well with each other? Or any essential plug-ins not installed I might want to add?

It is also such a huge relief to have a functional site again. It is amazing how much that show sharing buttons on homepage slowed down my website to a complete crawl.
