WP SEO by Yoast Version 1.5.5.3 problem with title field

How come when I start a new post, the WP SEO plugin starts with “Section 8 | Plan 8 Low Income Housing Miami Florida” and I have not even created a title yet? When I do this phrase is appended to the title and therefore making it too long. I have tried everything to correct this. My site is https://section8mia.com and I am using the “Emerald Stretch” theme.
Please help! I tried changing the <title> code but that didn’t work also.
