• I’ve recently passed my site over to a new designer for redevelopment and also given him access to my WP password. But when he attempts to gain access he can’t even see the admin login screen; he says I must be using password protection on the admin screen.

No idea how I managed to do this… I can log in fine (so my browser must just be remembering me).

How can I undo this protection so my designer can gain access to my site?

    Many thanks

[Apologies for any cross posting – I did find a forum post from three years ago that provided technical info related to this topic, but nothing that addressed this specific question]

  • You’re probably using any security plugins that only whitelist your IP address. If that’s the case, anyone from another IP address will be restricted access to the backend of your site.

This IP whitelisting can also be done via .htaccess file. I’m no expert in this so I’d hold for expert comments here. I’m just pointing out what might have caused this just in case you remember taking such security measures.

    Thanks for the input aisajib.

I certainly don’t recall anything (and have never touched the .htaccess file); I’ve also done as you suggest and looked through all my plug-ins, but there doesn’t seem to be anything that would cause this to happen.

Thanks for trying anyway – guess I wait for other comments/suggestions.
