Picturefill works 99% of time – Update 2: Single quote in ALT caused issue
-
Update 2:
I just fixed the original issue posted under “Original Post” by removing the single quote from the ALT tag.
I don’t know the standards for ALT tags and special characters…or whether it’s an issue with the plugin or Picturefill, but at the very least, maybe you could consider letting people know that if some images aren’t displaying as Retina, it could be due to ALT tags that contains single quotes, double quotes or other special characters (e.g. ?)
Regardless, I love your plugin, will be donating, and will let you know about any other issues I find (whether they are my fault or not).
It’s been therapeutic making this post ??
Update 1:
I’m not sure about this yet, but I’m noticing a trend of a special character in the “alt” for an image causing the rewrite not to happen in some cases.

?Still looking into it…
Original Post:
I love the plugin and plan to donate, but I’m having issues with a handful of images, even when I try adjusting/resaving them in Photoshop and reuploading them.
Here’s an example screenshot of 250×250 thumbnails that are 1) Retina, 2) Not-Retina, 3) Retina…

https://www.motosofsf.com/ridin-lanky/I’ve uploaded around 300 images and it’s only happening for a small percentage of images. I’m going to experiment with the other images as well to see if I can fix them, but this one so far has been “unfixable”, so I thought I’d throw this post up in the meantime.
Any ideas? I’m glad to provide any additional information I can because I really appreciate this plugin!
