• Hi i am not sure what version of WordPress I am using as I can not log in!

basically I tried to chnage a social media widget on the site and it seemed to work after about 5 mins howevere we got the white screen of death.

I have tryed to login and the same screen shows on the admin page.

i have tried all the below fixes and nothing has worked.

    – renamed yin yan function to force the site to revert to default- nope

    – renamed htaccess.php – nope

    – renamed htaccess.php in page_enhanced folder – nope

    – changed wp_content file name – this gave an error message instead of white screen

    – renamed wp_settings – nope

    – added line of code to increase memory size of wp-config – nope

It looks like i am going to have to pay sombody to fix this for me I am very poor student so can anyone suggest a low cost trusted support service please?

    or any other suggestions maybe

  • Have you tried to rename just the plugin that broke everything through FTP in the wp-content/plugins folder?

Apparently the wp-content/ rename works, so just rename the wp-content/plugins/theproblematicplugin folder to something else, and refresh the site.

Do you have access to your server error logs? That can help narrow down exactly what is going on and will help us troubleshoot with you.

Hi thank you for your responses

@nofearinc I renamed the folder that the plugins sit in wouldn’t that disable all plugins anyway so if that was the issue it would be ressolved?

And @craig I’m not sure how and where I can access the server log can u advice please ?

The specific plugin in question should be renamed instead of the plugins folder.

As for what @craig said, either in your cPanel or try locating some error_log file in your WP folder or subdirectories.
