Reply comment not displaying as a reply

  • When someone replies to a comment, the reply goes to the end of the list (newest goes on bottom) and is flush left with the other comments.

    Here’s what I’ve done:

    – Changed themes – made no difference on any theme
    – Deactivated all plugins – made no difference
    – Unchecked/checked “Enable threaded (nested) comments 5 levels deep” under Settings > Discussion – made no difference

    How do I get replies to look like replies, that is, threaded under the associated comment and indented some?

  • Simply go to Settings ? Discussion.

    Under the Other comment settings, you will find the option, Comments should be displayed with the older comments at the top of each page.

    Click on the drop down menu and select Newer.

    After that, you need to click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page to store your settings.

    Though, as I can see your site is showing 403 error now.

    That only changed the order, placing the newer comment (which is a reply — clicked “Reply”) above the older one. It didn’t do what I describe above: beneath and indented.

    As to the 403, I’m not sure what caused that as I can’t recreate it on three computers (only logged in on one).
