Country flags are replaced by text

Hello,
The country flags are not being displayed anymore, instead the name of the language is displayed. This happens in the language switcher and also in the Polylang settings, where the defined languages are listed.
I’m using the latest version of Polylang: 1.5.3. I’ve also reinstalled the plugin with no success.
