    Hi,

It depends on what you’re doing. The JSON API is great for when you want to link your site to other web apps. If connecting them to your WordPress site, some will need to use the JSON API to interact with your site.

If you’re not using any, it is safe to disable, though it uses minimal resources to stay active (since it won’t do much until someone tries to interact with your site using the API).

    Thanks!

    Brandon,

Makes sense to me (sorta). What apps might access the site using JSON API? You mean stuff like Jetpack’s social media publish feature? A Facebook app? Twitter app?

Since I use Jetpack to auto share my latest posts and use it’s share buttons on my site, I don’t use FB or Twitter apps.

    Hi,

Jetpack’s social media Publicize will work either way, but apps like that yes. One of the more popular ones is IFTTT ( https://ifttt.com/ ) that can automatically do something when something else is done (e.g. automatically publish it as a new post on my site when I take a picture of something with Instagram, etc).

    Cheers!

That makes sense. I’ll leave JSON API activated because if I ever use an app that wants it without me realizing it, then JSON is there. ??
