Symbols in WordPress not showing

In the admin dashboard/text editors/everywhere, all the symbols associated with options are displayed with rectangles with a letter and three numbers (even the WordPress logo). Same applies on the webpage wherever there is an option (date, user, facebook, leave a comment, etc.). This is seen on Firefox 31 on my PC. They work/appear fine on all other browsers and on other computers and browsers I have here… concern I have is that my experience is not unique. odd issue with Firefox? Fine in Chrome, Safari, IE, etc. Mac is fine as is a different but identical PC running the same browsers…
