Delete Pulled Stories?

We’re using the Guardian wordpress plugin to bring in stories to our news portal and it’s proving to be a hit. We have one problem though:
If a story is pulled, or the 24 hours expires, stores get automatically updated to remove all content and replace it with this message: “The content previously published here has been withdrawn. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
As users surf our site, they end up coming in contact with these posts, and they remain online until we manually go through them periodically and remove stories that have been pulled for whatever reason.
Is it possible to alter the plugin so that instead of replacing the story with the above message, the story is simply moved to the trash so it doesn’t appear on the site any longer?
This would be a HUGE help to us and assistance in the matter would be much appreciated.
