microblogging plugin?

I’d like to have a widget that allows me to post news type links from elsewhere on the web (ideally showing an image thumbnail of my choosing) and a description; but I want to use it like a separate news feed to my main blog, so I can constantly add more links and it’d be scrollable within its widget rather than becoming super long down the page. I think I’ve seen it described as microblogging elsewhere?

does anyone know of a plugin that would do this?
