Media Gallery Not Transferring

  • I just installed a new WP theme. In March I transferred my site to a non-working site for development. Since then I have been posting in my live site as regular, kowing I would have to transfer the posts and images again once I was ready to go live with the new theme.

    That time has come.

    Problem is, although al of my media gallery transferred the first time, when I did a transfer of the new posts, none of the gallery images came over.

    This is where it gets confusing….

    While I still am able to view an image in the new theme within the post editor, it is not in the gallery. When I view the text code and the url that the <img> is linked to, it is listed at the current live site and NOT the dev site where the working site lives.

    Will I lose all of my images once I go live?

  • How do yo transfer the posts/pages? By using the import/export functions?

    It may be better to do a full database migration from the old site to the new site. This will ensure that the old URL will be replaced by the new URL everywhere — including the content in which the images still point to the old server.
