I have a bit of a strange issue happening with my site (above). Last year in July I took a blog hiatus until April this year. During this time, the blog was completely idle, no posts, no updates, etc. of any kind – nothing was touched.

However, when I came back I’ve noticed that every single post I schedule fails, it worked absolutely fine before the hiatus. All posts I create are scheduled so it’s very annoying to say the least. I realise there’s a plugin (which I’ve temporarily installed) that fixes this issue, but I don’t want to use a plugin, I’d like it to work as it should.

In addition to that, all trackbacks and pingbacks are not being sent. I can receive them, but sometimes they’re late coming through.

I haven’t installed any new plugins, or as I said before, updated or changed anything at all.

However, I have had this problem before (when I moved my blog from the directory to the root). The only way I managed to fix that was to literally install the blog again from scratch and manually input all the posts back in. I really, really do not want to go this route again.

I have since updated my WP to the latest version, and all plugins are now up to date. The problems persisted before I even updated anything, and since updating they persist.

If anyone could offer any support what so ever that would be great. I’m beginning to think it might be a database issue so if anyone has any insights in anything I can do to check, that would be wonderful too.

    Thank you.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Up to now I have tried:

    – deactivating all plugins,
    – switching themes. I’ve changed theme after this post anyway, but went ahead and used the Twenty Fourteen to see if it would fix it anyway,
    – Resetting the plugin folder via FTP.

All of the above haven’t fixed the issue sadly. I’m now about to install a fresh copy of the WordPress files (except wp-content, etc.). I hope this fixes the issue, but it didn’t before.

I’ll report back after I upload the files.

OK, replaced all the files again. Still no luck. A post has already missed schedule, and testing ping backs/trackbacks still fails.

As stated before, I think there might be an issue with the database. Does anyone have anymore suggestions for me to try? Thanks in advance.

I’m back and the problem is now resolved.

The culprit was my hosting. Changed hosting to Bluehost and issues are now fully resolved.
