I’m using a theme that creates custom user types to allow front end posting of business listings (Business Finder). These user types (Created by my theme) show up in ‘User capabilities’ on Events Manager, and i can click what capabilities I require and they are stored for a while and all is fine, but after some time, they are deleted. Does anyone know why this might be? I don’t know if it’s EM or my theme that is making them revert back? I’ve even added a user role plug in (Members) to create user capabilities but it deletes capabilities from there too. This is very frustrating (and for my client). Without this working, my client’s site is useless and I look bad.Maybe someone could tell me where I could ‘Hard code’ the capabilities into the back end so they are not just options. If anyone could shine some light on this for me it would be much appreciated.

this works for me and it could be a theme or another plugin is causing the issue; can you try to temporarily do the following to narrow down the problem:

    – deactivating all other plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems

Hi Angelo, Thanks for your response. My problem is that this only happens intermittently, at apparently random intervals – so it can be working fine then suddenly decide it wants to delete user capabilities. When you say ‘It works for me’ do you mean that you are using Events Manager with the Business Finder theme? If so, this would obviously set aside my suspicion that the plugin and theme are simply incompatible. There is clearly some ‘trigger’ which is forcing this to happen. It’s giving me a headache!

I’m 98% certain this is being caused by either your theme or the additional plugin you mentioned. I’ve never heard of anything similar happening with only Events Manager running.

Best workaround I can think of would be to create a separate user role for use with Events Manager and not use the theme and other plugin to admin it.
