Plugin Shopping

I’ve searched and installed plugins in vain here. I’m looking for advice on three kinds of plugins (compatible with 2.1):

1. post writing and submission—I tried to install both Dean’s fckeditor and Markdown extra to no avail.

2. A desktop blogging client

3. a video player
