I installed TTD and a theme called NineZeroSeven. I made all my customizations to the theme under TTD. Now it’s time to make the theme live. I Deactivate TTD and set NineZeroSeven as my theme and all of the customizations I made are gone!
I can turn TTD back on and the customizations are there. How do I move the customizations to the live version of the theme?

I’d like to know the answer as well as I’ll likely be customizing a theme.

I also need this info. Hope they get back to you soon!

This seems to be theme specific, for some themes the setting are saved. i am still investigating this. If someone finds the reason/patch please email me at [email protected]

I’m having the same issues when following the instructions for activation of the new theme.

Now I’m start trembling when I learn that might lost all setting when we activate the theme…..I can’t even remember what I’ve done for the past two weeks!! I’m using Onedesign ENLIGHTENMENT theme, its very complicated to me…Any further solution?

Make sure you backup your site first then!

Even I’ve back up all the preview mode settings,
but how we move all the new settings to new theme after we activate it?
    Please help….

Ok I’ve test. Sure will lost all setting….
Even I change back to old theme, and enable again TTD,
    new theme setting lost too…..
now I need to redo again…

I meant to follow up to my original post.

    1) TP keeps all the theme settings in its own table via database.

    2) Widgets are located in the inactive part of the widgets area as well as the DB

    3) One odd thing I found was text widgets seem to disappear. For this I was able to dig around in a copy of my DB for the text widget portion and restored.

In the end absolutely backup your settings before switching. If it’s a production site make sure you go live during low traffic time.

I made the mistake of not backing up yet I still managed to dig around in the options table and restore everything.

I hope this plugin gets some needed attention.

To immediately undo the switch just change enabled theme.

    Another quick follow-up…

Once you enable the old theme, go back into TP and enable the preview for your new theme – you should find that it restores your settings.

In my case I lost all my text widgets somehow but they were not deleted out of the database.

Here are a few of the things to look for in your options table.

theme_mods_(theme preview name) – My theme name looks like this theme_mods_iemajen-micro

Text widgets as so – widget_text

As always backup your DB – if only working within the options table just backup that as I did.

To reiterate, I setup TP and enabled a new theme to develop. When I was ready to go live I disabled TP and enabled the new theme which was broken. I reverted themes, re-enabled TP and found my settings and widgets restored as expected. I lost text widgets on the new theme which I was able to restore from the options DB table.

I hope this is helpful to someone. I spent several frustrating hours to get my work back but was able to do so.

Thanks! I’ve set new theme back last night before I read your post, I found out that actually TTD work depends on Theme, for the Theme I’ve used [Onedesign Enlightenment]:
    1. Theme Option Setting is still there.
    2. Custom CSS in Theme Option still there.
    3. Page/Post setting still there (this theme need to customize sidebar)
    4. Theme Option customize added sidebar still there.

    Only missing:
    1. Widget in sidebar missing.
    2. Edit CSS under appearance is missing.

Because ENLIGHTENMENT homepage setting are based on Customised Sidebar and Widget, so it’s seems like losing all setting when you start disable TTD and activate new theme, but actually setting is still there. Lucky I’ve screenshot ALL OPTION before I activated new theme, so I can easily found out the different.

Thanks for helping, this is a very good plugin, especially when you need to get approval from a lot of superior when you redesign an old running WP website. Now with confidence, I’m still running old WP theme, and working on TTD + new theme again. Please keep your good job and update this marvelous plugin!

I’m glad the forums are helping you along.

Something to note, the theme I was testing is bare bones theme so it couldn’t be related to theme dependencies.

Same issue with the theme Sahifa from themeforest.
I disabled TTD and enabled the theme, but all the settings are lost.
I set back the previous theme and re-enabled TTD, but even doing so the settings are gone.
    Any tip is appreciated.
