I’m using go daddy as my host. I’ve installed wordpress and received the email. However when I click the admin link to my website to get started the page never loads and I get a timed out message. It’s my first website so some trouble shooting suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Additionally, if you have just purchased the domain and hosting via GoDaddy, it can take up to 48 hours for the site to be available, even via the email link sent after the “one-click” installation.

In my experience with this setup, it is generally available within a few hours. You may also initially notice that it will work for a bit, then not, then start again; this is normal and part of the process of making your new domain available throughout the web.

I’m getting the same problem. I’m using Go daddy as host and have received email stating that wordpress has been successfully installed.
Upon clicking the admin link to my website the page never loads and I get a time out message.
I’ve tried clearing the browser cache.
I don’t think the link (above) of common time out errors applies as I have not started building my website.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.
    Thanks,

I’m having the same problem with my site, https://www.dinertech.co.uk, hosted by iPage as my host. I’ve cleared cached data, but the problem persists.

Any suggestions would be more than welcome. Thanks

@davidharington: It is considered impolite to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread unless you are posting a solution or suggestion. As per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic.

Esmi – thanks for pointing this out to me (it’s my first post, as you might guess from the accidental duplication that you have kindly removed).

But do you not think that my post and ralphsnider’s are useful here? They may not be solutions or suggestions, but they are providing further information.

The fact that j05hn, ralph and I are all having the same problem with different hosts is significant, and that would not be seen if we all started our own threads; and any solution provided may well sort us all out.

    Best wishes

@davidharington: These forums have guidelines. Please read them. As you will see, one of these guidelines – entitled Where to Post – specifically states:

Unless you are using the same version of WordPress on the same physical server hosted by the same hosts with the same plugins, theme & configurations as the original poster, do not post in someone else’s thread. Start your own topic.

    Please abide by this.

@ralphsnider: Is your problem solved? Are you using Godaddy shared hosting, or managed WordPress hosting?

Hey so I ended up calling the 24 hour tech support for go Daddy and the problem did not lie within WordPress. Apparently every once in a while when they create a new host/domain the info doesn’t fill out right on their end, sending it to different servers. So they had to manually fill it out. Took about 10 minutes and everything started working for me. So I suggest if your a new client to call your host’s tech service because it may very well be on there end where the problem lies.

Glad to hear everything worked out ??
